About SycaMORE Research 2.0
SycaMORE Research 2.0 is a discovery tool that searches the following materials:
- books
- scholarly journal articles
- newspaper articles
- theses and dissertations
- conference proceedings
- numerous academic databases
- ISU-specific content such as digital ISU collections, and resource guides created by ISU Librarians
SycaMORE Research 2.0 searches the full text of ISU e-books and even some non-ISU resources, if the owning institution has made them accessible.
However, if you need to do a comprehensive subject search, you need to search our subject specific databases in addition to SycaMORE Research to make sure you have looked everywhere.
When should I use SycaMORE Research 2.0
SycaMORE Research is a great search tool, but like any great tool it works best with specific types of questions like:
- Starting to research a large topic for class
- Researching a multidisciplinary topic
- Needing a quick answer or resources
- Looking for citations for specific author(s)
- Defining a term or topic
Should I always use SycaMORE Research?
SycaMORE research is a great starting point for your research, but if you require a comprehensive/ more in depth subject search you may want to try our list of subject specific databases.
What are the advantages of using SycaMORE Research?
Search results include citations of many kinds of sources: books, journal articles, newspaper articles, conference proceedings, dissertations, photos, multimedia, and much more.
Citations in your search results can be viewed in six commonly used citation formats (APA, AMA, MLA, Uniform, Chicago, and Harvard), exported to EndNote or your reference manager of choice, emailed, and printed.
Search results can be quickly narrowed by using the facets: content type, library location, subject terms, publication date, language, and more.
If you aren't finding what you need, searches can be expanded to include materials that are not part of the ISU Library collections, but which can easily be requested through our interlibrary loan service.
