Why is it necessary to cite?
- It helps to avoid plagiarism by requiring you to credit others
for their work.
- It helps you to evaluate information. Having to record the
publication date helps you to evaluate the currency of your source.
Naming the author and publisher allows you to consider the reputation of each.
- It is a standard requirement for scholarly papers.
